Promoting Employee Job Satisfaction through Sustainable Workplace Diversity of Selected Firms in the Telecommunications Sector

This study investigates the relationship between workplace diversity and employee job satisfaction within selected telecommunications firms MTN, Glo, and Airtel in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria. The research focuses on key diversity dimensions, including gender, age, ethnicity, and educational background, and their impact on job satisfaction in a dynamic and competitive industry. The study employed a descriptive research design, targeting 75 staff members from the selected firms. Given the manageable population size, the entire population was used as the sample size, with stratified random sampling ensuring representation across various job levels. Primary data was gathered through structured questionnaires, which were validated and tested for reliability. Data analysis was performed using SPSS, incorporating descriptive statistics and linear regression analysis to examine the relationships between diversity variables and job satisfaction. The findings revealed significant positive relationships between gender diversity, age diversity, ethnicity diversity, educational background, and job satisfaction. The study concludes that workplace diversity, particularly in terms of gender, age, ethnicity and education, plays a critical role in enhancing job satisfaction, which in turn can boost organizational performance. Based on these findings, the study recommends implementing targeted gender diversity initiatives, promoting age-inclusive work environments, developing comprehensive ethnic diversity management strategies, and investing in employee education and development programs. These measures are essential for building a more diverse, inclusive, and satisfied workforce in the telecommunications sector.
